Allergic reactions to Tattoo Pigments

26 October, 2011

Allergic reactions to tattoo pigment is the second most common complication of tattoos. Our Specialist have seen a significant spike in the number of tattoo allergies in the first half of 2011. A contaminated batch of black ink was delivered from the USA to numerous tattooist in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. (black ink is usually the least likely to cause allergies)

Black ink allergy may also be secondary to PPD, seen in henna tattoos.
